DEVASTATED family and friends have paid tribute to a “kind and caring” teenager who died after being hit by a falling tree.

Police were called to the Carlton in Lindrick, Nottinghamshire, at 11.21am on Saturday after reports the boy had been seriously injured.

Police and paramedics attended but the child – who has now been named as 16-year-old Kamil Hubert – was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teenager had just finished his GCSEs the day before his tragic death.

Nottinghamshire Police said two men, aged 28 and 31, had been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with Saturday’s death.

A 28-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of helping the perpetrator.

All three arrested persons are in police custody.

Devastated friends and relatives of Kamil have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the young man’s funeral.

His cousin, Aleksandra Ostapczuk, put together a page for the boy’s mother.

Aleksandra wrote: “15. In June, my aunt’s sixteen-year-old son died tragically.

“He had just finished his GCSEs the day before the incident.

“We are trying to help her raise money to cover the cost of his funeral.

More than £4,000 has been raised so far towards funeral costs.

The Carlton is holding a fundraiser for Kamil at the Lindrick Club in Worksop on Saturday to help his family raise money for his funeral.

The balloons will be released at 3 pm in the Pit Field.

The club has asked anyone wishing to donate any prizes for the draw to bring them in before June 21.

The organizer wrote on the club’s Facebook page: “There will be cake sales and donations for everyone who wants to help this local family in their most difficult moments.

“They asked that everyone in attendance wear blue to celebrate his life.”

Police statement in full

After the tragic death of the boy, the POLICE issued the following statement:

A 16-year-old boy died after being injured by a falling tree.

Our officers were called to Rotherham Baulk, Carlton-in-Lindrick, at 11.21am on Saturday (15 June 2024) following reports that a boy had been seriously injured.

Police and paramedics attended the incident, but unfortunately the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men aged 28 and 31 were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

A 28-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of helping the perpetrator of the crime. All three remain in the police force.

Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the boy’s family. They asked for privacy at this most difficult time.

“The family are being assisted by specially trained officers as we continue to investigate exactly what happened.

“Our inquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone with information, including witnesses and anyone who may have recorded CCTV, door camera or video footage, to contact us.”

Anyone with information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 229 of 15 June 2024, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Tributes to the young man are pouring in on social networks.

Jimmy Smith wrote on Facebook: “So sad RIP young lad, thoughts with the family.”

Devon Rodgers wrote: “Rest in heaven Kamil, so young.

“You will be remembered for your cheeky smile and the jokes you made.

“I can’t believe I only saw you yesterday on the way to work.

“Forever 16.”

Another social media user wrote: “He’s so sad, he only left school on Friday.

“Thinking of my family and friends at this very sad time.”
