An autopsy found that Timotej was killed illegally, while his father died by suicide.

The court heard that the youngster lived with his mum Veronica Phillips at the time and saw his father on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

It was due to be returned to Veronica by 7pm, but she became “worried” after failing to reach Lee.

The inquest heard she called Lee’s brother, who entered the property before running out calling for help.

The ambulance arrived around 9 pm and tried to save Timotei who was lying on the bed unconscious.

Tragically, the schoolboy was pronounced dead just seven minutes later after suffering an external airway obstruction.

The investigation learned that on the day of the murder, Lee sent an e-mail to his sister around 4:28 p.m.

He also searched online to see if “delayed emails can be sent from an iPhone.”

Police were able to establish that on the day of the murder, he sent an email to his sister at 4.28pm and also searched the internet to see if ‘delayed emails can be sent from an iPhone’.

Mortuary dr. Catherine Mason said: “Lee Borrett committed a deliberate act with the intention of causing his own death, so the appropriate conclusion is suicide.”

She said a police investigation found that Lee was responsible for her son’s death and that no one else was involved.

Timothy’s mum paid tribute to her son after the hearing, saying: “Our beloved Timothy was a light in our lives, full of curiosity, kindness and wonder.

“At only five years old, he was fascinated by the planets, he often looked at the stars and asked the most wonderful questions.

“His love of countries and his ability to name over 180 flags amazed everyone who met him.

“Timothy had a heart so big it could hold the whole world — he was always sharing, always understanding and always full of love. He will forever be our little space explorer.”
