Boy Meets World’s Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle Announce Documentary: We’re ‘Excited About It’

The A boy meets the world The team has a new project up its sleeve.

Former cast members Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence), Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter), Will Friedle (Eric Matthews), Trina McGee (Angela Moore), William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), Bonnie Bartlett Daniels (Dean Lila Bolander), Betsy Randle ( Amy Matthews ), William Russ ( Alan Matthews ) and Anthony Tyler Quinn ( Jonathan Turner ) reunited Saturday for a panel at 90s Con 2024 moderated by PEOPLE’s Dory Jackson. While there, Fishel, Strong and Friedle — who are co-hosts The floor meets the world podcast — shared some exciting news with fans.

“We’re not even sure if it’s ever going anywhere or not. We don’t necessarily intend to do anything with it. But like, Bon [Bonnie Bartlett Daniels] We mentioned, this has been such an amazing group of people that we’ve been able to stay in touch with all this time,” began Fishel, 42. “It really kicked into high gear last year when we started the podcast and started doing some live shows.”

Fishel continued, “So at some point, Rider, the creator of the podcast idea, also said to us, ‘Do you think we should film any of this and make a documentary about the experiences?’

After the crowd roared with cheers, Fishel explained that while they “have this footage of us at the show,” they “don’t have a ton of behind-the-scenes footage.”

“We have something, but not much. And [Rider] said, ‘I think there will come a time, whether it’s five years, 10 years, or 30 years from now, when we’ll look back at the experience we’re all having now and wish we could relive it and experience it again,'” she shared. .” So we have a small film crew interviewing fans at our live shows who are here with us this weekend. And, you know, he went to dinner with all of us last night.”

“Even if we never air it anywhere, it’s just for us,” Fishel added. “But yeah, we’re really excited about it.”

Friedle, 47, said at the time that “they shot yesterday in my childhood bedroom.” (The actor grew up in Hartford, Connecticut, where the annual convention is held.)

“And he hasn’t been touched since he was 16, when he went to do Boy Meets World,” joked Strong, 44.

A boy meets the world ran on ABC from 1993 to 2000 for seven seasons. Created by Michael Jacobs and April Kelly, the series later received a spinoff titled A girl meets the worldwhich ran from 2014 to 2017 in three seasons.
