Appears in Friday’s episode The Graham Norton Show, Cooper, 49, said: “Carey was in a solo show, I went backstage to meet her and realized something was wrong and insisted I take her to the ER.”

“During the show, a bit of the set hit me over the head,” Mulligan explained. “I kept going but when it was over I started crying and I thought I was gone.”

“I was sobbing on the floor when Bradley turned up and, realizing I wasn’t well, took me to the hospital. You can imagine how delighted the nurse was!”

“I was quite sick on set and a doctor was called to give me antibiotics,” explained the star. “When I told him I was 12 weeks pregnant, he wasn’t convinced at all.”

That’s when she realized she was “still wearing make-up to look like she’s 57.”

“I couldn’t wait to tell the makeup artists how good they were,” added Mulligan, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 2024 Academy Awards for her role in the film.

Cooper, who is nominated for Best Actor, also revealed how he was given prosthetics to “age from 24 to 67 during the film” – and it had a dramatic effect on the way the film was shot.

“The makeup was amazing,” he said of making the film. “It was also interesting that when I was shooting young Lenny, I was jumping all over the set, and when I was older Lenny, we had much slower days.”
