Bridgerton's Victor Alli Teases Future of John and Francesca After Season 3 Finale (Exclusive)

The love story of Lord John Stirling and Francesca Bridgerton is just beginning Bridgerton.

Victor Alli — who plays John Stirling on the hit Netflix series — tells PEOPLE what’s next for the couple after they tied the knot and announced their plans to move to Scotland, where they will be joined by her sister Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and his cousin Michaela (Masali Baduza), in the finale of the 3rd season.

“I think we just want to be away from it all and that’s why we’re going so far and I guess we want to start a family,” he shares. “And I think that’s next on the map. And I suppose we have the company of Eloise and my cousins. And it’s really exciting because we have a nice party.”

He calls the fact that the couple will be traveling with their family members “really, really fun”, adding: “But I think ultimately we just want to start a family and spend more time together in Scotland. So I think that’s what they might see, what the audience might see next.”

In the second part of Bridgerton season 3, fans were introduced to Michaela, who does not appear in the Julia Quinn novels. However, John has a cousin named Michael, who pursues and later marries Francesca after the death of her first husband in the novel, When he was evil.

When asked how he felt about portraying the character, Alli said: “Oh. I said, ‘Whoa, that’s really cool.’ Because I was told it was going to change a bit before we started any of that filming. And it was very nice. It was really enjoyable to read that introduction.”

“It was such a nice introduction, I think,” he adds. “I don’t think they could have done it any other way. So yeah, I’m really glad and I was really excited.”

As for how Francesca will cope with losing her husband, Alli says: “It’s going to be quite difficult. Someone she loved, or maybe still loves, is gone. It is hard.”

“And she’s widowed very early, and that’s going to be so hard,” he continues. “We’ve never seen anything like that for any siblings, any Bridgerton siblings. Well, yes, it will be very difficult. And I don’t know how she will handle it. I don’t know what she’s going to go through or the challenges she might face, but I hope she makes it through.”
