The gifted French horn player qualified for the finals of the BBC Young Musician of the Year 2022 and was part of the National Youth Orchestra.
Imogen, who has been diagnosed with autism, was said to find it very difficult to ‘live up to her very high standards.’
The inquest heard she “couldn’t accept her failure to get into medical school”.
However, Imogen has secured a place at Lancaster University and is said to be preparing to move.
However, the musician was tragically found dead in her bedroom in Milton Abbas, Dorset.
She was found by her mother, Rosemary, a professional violinist and violin teacher, who thought her daughter was sleeping in the house.
Rosemary said in a statement: “On August 12, I woke up around 8am.
“Imogen went to bed the night before at around 11.30pm and that was the last time I saw her.
‘I went into her room at around 11.40am to let the cat out and I thought she was sleeping.
“I saw that the light was on next to her bed, which was strange.
“I went to her to remove the ligature but I didn’t start CPR as she was cold to the touch as it was clear she had passed away.”
Imogen was pronounced dead at the scene and an autopsy confirmed she died of strangulation.
The child star is said to have suffered from mental health issues brought on by quarantine during the pandemic.
Imogen was previously set to start university in 2022 but dropped out due to mental health issues.
With free time, she applied to top medical schools, but was rejected.
It seriously affected the 20-year-old which led to her being taken to the Priory Hospital in Southampton.
After she was discharged, she went on a family vacation, but when she returned, her mental health had deteriorated.
Psychiatrists warned her parents to leave Imogen alone, saying Imogen was struggling with rejection.
The psychiatrist who treated Imogen at The Priory Hospital, dr. Tessa Jones, said: “She couldn’t accept her failure to get into medical school.
“She was an intelligent person who was very popular but sometimes struggled to live up to her very high standards.
“She revealed to me her opinion about moving to Lancaster.
“She was planning to get a job in a cafe to help her financially – she was clearly planning for the future.”
You are not alone
EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide

Yet it’s rarely talked about, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage if we don’t all stop and pay attention now.
That’s why The Sun launched the You Are Not Alone campaign.
The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all help save lives.
