A BRITISH tourist has been questioned about the death of a Thai sex worker who was found dead in her hotel room – allegedly claiming he didn’t notice her decomposing body for four days.
The 71-year-old was last seen kissing and holding hands with Duangt Khampongs, 45, as he took her to his bedroom at a guesthouse in the ‘Sin City’ of Pattaya in eastern Thailand on December 18.

She was never seen alive again – but the British woman was caught on camera leaving the room nervous four days later on December 22.
Building security guard Prayoon Chinsai, 57, called the police later that morning when he noticed a foul smell coming from the room.
When he knocked and no one answered, he used the spare key to open the door – only to find the woman’s half-naked body rotting on the bed.
The officers arrived at the building and found the British man in a nearby bar.
He said he knew about the body but did not file a police report because he claimed he “didn’t know she was dead.”
Police Captain Puttharak Sonkhamhan of the Pattaya City Police Station said officers are still questioning him.
He said: “The woman had been dead for at least three days. Her body began to decompose and bloat, giving off a foul smell throughout the room.
“She was wearing only denim shorts and nothing on her upper half. A search of the room found no signs of a struggle or disturbance.
“It would be hard not to notice that she was dead because her body was already decomposing.
– There was also liquid and blood on the bed.
Officers were looking for the British pensioner and found him drinking at a bar on Jomtien Beach.
He was said to be dazed and confused when he was taken into custody.
The British man claimed he invited Duangta, a sex worker from a nearby bar, to stay in his room after she was allegedly attacked by an unknown assailant on December 18.
CCTV footage obtained by police shows Duangta, wearing a black shirt and white cap, walking with a tourist along a hotel corridor on the evening of December 18.

The 71-year-old was then seen on December 22 leaving the room alone.
He was caught checking both sides of the corridor before heading towards a row of beach bars.
He reportedly told police: “She was vomiting and sleeping the whole time, but I didn’t think it was anything out of the ordinary. I realized she was feeling weak and exhausted. We last heard from her on December 19.”
The Briton claimed he did not realize she had died “because there was no unusual smell in the room”.
He denied hurting or killing the woman.
Bar owner Kaew, 65, described the dead woman, Duangta, as an “alcoholic” and a “regular drunk”.
She claimed to have seen a British tourist rejecting Duangta on the night of December 18.
Duangta’s body was taken to Bang Lamung Hospital for an autopsy.
Doctors did not clarify the cause of her death.
Police Captain Puttharak added: “We have called the British man to the police station for further questioning.
“Forensic police continue to collect fingerprints and DNA because we do not believe his testimony. All video surveillance is being checked.”
The former fishing village of Pattaya became popular with US soldiers on “rest and relaxation” breaks in the 1960s when the US military had bases in Thailand.
In the years that followed, the coastal resort turned into a Mecca of sex tourism.
Embarrassed officials advanced the gentrification of the region with family tourism projects, but the predatory nightlife industry remained.
