Britney Spears Thanks Fans for Book’s Success and Says Memoir Has Already Made History: ‘Love You All’

Britney Spears celebrates the success of her memoir.

On Tuesday – the day of her autobiography, The woman in meis officially published – Spears (41) thanked her fans on social networks and said that her book has already made history.

“It’s happening ✨🤓📖 !!! My book is the best selling celebrity memoir in history and it’s only day one!!!” began the description of her Instagram post. “Thank you to the fans who were so supportive!!! I love you all 🌹!!! #TheWomanInMe @gallerybooks @simonandschuster.”

The title is accompanied by a photograph of her book cover with the words: “My story. On my terms. Finally”, with a promotional video.

Britney Spears says she didn’t write her memoir to ‘offend’ anyone: ‘I shut it down’

Days before the book’s release, Spears spoke openly about her decision to write the memoir in a separate Instagram post, saying she didn’t write it to “offend” anyone.

“My book is not intended to offend anyone in any way,” she wrote in a note published Friday. “That was me then… that’s the past!!!”

The pop superstar then went on to say that most of what she writes about in the book happened 20 years ago.

“I’ve moved on and it’s still a beautiful clean slate,” she wrote. “I’m here to set it up like that for the rest of my life!!! Anyway, it’s the last one and s— it’s happening!!”

Adding that putting pen to paper gave her “conclusion,” she continued, “This is actually a book that I didn’t know needed to be written… although some may be offended, it gave me a conclusion to all things for a better future!!!”

“I hope that I can enlighten people who in most cases feel especially alone or hurt or misunderstood,” the “Toxic” singer explained. “Again, my motive for this book was not to repeat my past experiences…”

The musician’s first memoir is packed with bombshells, from delving into her experience as a conservator, to her past relationship with Justin Timberlake and her “passionate” relationship with Colin Farrell.

Before the book hits shelves, Spears also opened up to an email interview for PEOPLE’s cover story about writing about her life.

“For the past 15 years or even at the beginning of my career, I sat while people talked about me and told my story for me,” she said. “After I got out of conservatorship, I was finally free to tell my story without repercussions from the people who were in charge of my life.”

“It’s finally time for me to speak up and my fans deserve to hear it directly from me,” she continued. “No more conspiracies, no more lies – only I own my past, present and future.”
