Brooke Shields Still Has 2 Pairs of Calvin Klein Jeans from Her 1980 Ads — Here’s What She Plans to Do with Them

Brooke Shields has big plans for the most special denim in her life.

In her last episode What now? podcast, published on December 19, the model spoke with guest Katie Couric about her iconic Calvin Klein ads — and where exactly those famous jeans are after all these years.

In a clip shared on Instagram, Couric, 68, recalled how she and her friends bought themselves a pair of Calvin Klein jeans under the influence of Shields’ famous 1980 ad.

The Blue Lagoon the actress, 58, then revealed that her mum had kept the three original pairs featured in the ad.

One of them, Shields pointed out, was given by the Metropolitan Museum of Art (“Doesn’t everyone give their jeans to the Met?” she joked), but the others are still in her possession.

“I’m going to frame the other two in Plexiglas, you know, the front and then the back,” she explained of her vision.

Shields actually found the memorabilia when she was inside A beautiful city on Broadway in 2004, and even then she could still wear the pants from her past.

“Now only my kid can fit in them,” Shields said, prompting Couric to suggest that Shields pass the pieces on to her daughters, Rowan, 20, and Grier, 17.

Shields was just 15 years old when the ad first came out. At the time, she sparked controversy with a teenager repeating the provocative slogan: “You want to know what’s between me and my Calvins? Nothing.”

Earlier this year, when the designer himself spoke to PEOPLE, he said that the phrase, which is remembered decades later, is “fun, innocent and yes, sexy as hell.”

At the time, however, the sentence had a different meaning for Shields. As she recalled, “I had a dog and I would say, ‘Nothing stands between me and my dog.’ It was an expression.”

“I didn’t think of it as not wearing underwear,” she added.

Looking back now, Shields told PEOPLE in March that she “understands” how the controversy arose. “But for some reason, and maybe it’s just protection, I’m not mad about it. He afforded me a lot.”

After all, she said, “Sex sells. Sex has been sold since time immemorial and it still is.”
