Burt Metcalfe A Famous Producer Passed Away At The Age Of 87

Burt Metcalfe became famous for his work on the CBS military comedy-drama series M*A*S*H. Burt, the legendary producer, director and actor, died yesterday at the age of 87. Metcalfe died July 27 of natural causes, his wife, actress Jan Jorden, announced. His funeral is still being completed.

All about Burt Metcalfe’s wife Jan Jorden

Janice Hope Jorden was born on September 8, 1942 to Frederic Eugene Jorden and Betty Jane Wilson. The 79-year-old actress is known for her five seasons as Nurse Baker on M*A*S*H. She served as a series producer before becoming the series’ executive producer. She is best known for her performance in the two-and-a-half-hour TV movie Goodbye, Goodbye, and Amen, which served as the series finale for M*A*S*H. A Love Affair: The Eleanor, The Lou Gehrig Story and The Last Married Couple in America are among the films she starred in.

In December 1979, Jorden married Metcalfe. Metcalfe was previously married to Toby Harry Shipman from 1961 to 1968, which was Jorden’s first marriage. Although Jorden is a well-known name in the business, nothing is known about her profession, educational history or parents, other than their names.

Burt Metcalfe’s career in entertainment

Burt Metcalfe was in Montreal and joined the US Navy in 1956. He worked in public relations for two years at Ream Field in San Ydisro, California. During his tenure in the Navy, he collaborated with a few of his friends to start Miss Angel, a beauty pageant. Metcalfe made his film debut in 1959 with Gidget, and played Tom Easton in an episode of the anthology series Death Valley Days.

He played Don Martin in an episode of the first season of The Twilight Zone that aired in March 1960. From 1960 to 1961, he played Joe Brigham on the NBC sitcom Happy, and from 1961 to 1962 he starred in the CBS sitcom Father of the Bride.

Burt appeared in three episodes of the CBS courtroom drama Perry Mason. Metcalfe rose to fame as the creator and producer of the CBS sitcom M*A*S*H from 1972 to 1983. He began as an associate producer before becoming a line producer in 1976. However, he became an executive producer of the series in 1977 and worked is for Warner Bros. television during the 1980s. Burt subsequently joined MTM Enterprises in November 1986 as executive producer and director of multiple programming.
