Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky are in the middle of a family feud.
In PEOPLE have an exclusive look at the premiere of the film Buying Beverly Hills season 2, Mauricio sits down with his three oldest daughters — Alexia, 27, and Sophia, 24, and Farrah Brittany, 35 (who is Kyle’s daughter from his first marriage) — to tell them he’s officially separated from their mother.
“I spent an amazing 26 years with your mom, an amazing 26 years,” he begins. “I wanted to do everything possible to save him.”
That said, he adds, “I think I need space.”

According to Mauricio, Kyle defined the “rules” of their separation, telling him, “You go out, you go out, you do whatever you want.”
He tells his daughters that his wife, 55, told him: “I’m not going to ask you what you’re doing, I don’t want you to ask me what I’m doing… we’re separated.”
The girls watch, sad and silent, as Mauricio tells them he might spend a month in Aspen to clear his mind.

Absorbing the news of her parents’ new status, Sophia breaks down in tears. “Our life has just changed so much,” she says.
Farrah agrees, saying that a year ago she couldn’t have predicted she’d be having this conversation.
“We only found out there were any problems a few months ago, and now it’s just like… things change so fast,” Sophia continues through tears.
Alexia remains silent for much of the scene before saying, “I’m sorry we’re all going through this,” prompting her father to agree that the situation is difficult “for all of us.”

RHOBH: Kyle Richards’ daughters may be the reason she decided to leave a marriage that no longer makes her happy
PEOPLE first broke the news of Kyle and Mauricio’s split in July, and the couple broke their silence later that night with a joint statement on Instagram admitting they were facing the “most challenging” year of their marriage.
On Sunday, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star told PEOPLE at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards that she and her husband still don’t know what the future holds.
“We’re a family no matter what, we love each other and we’re just trying to figure it out. So he’s not on break right now,” she said. “We are actively going through this and working on it.”
She added: “We’re not going to be in this situation forever, no matter what. Time will tell, probably sooner than later, but we’re hanging in. The good thing is that we get along and we were at last night’s event together with the family. And I don’t know, it worked out for us. It’s a little weird, but hey, like I said, we’re family no matter what.”
