TikToker Alex The Critter Catcher shared a video of a seemingly normal weed before revealing its hidden content.
The self-proclaimed “voice of the animals” explained that he was playing a high-stakes game of hide-and-seek with a poisonous reptile.
He challenged social media users to locate the snake in just a few seconds while it was perfectly still somewhere in the vegetation.
Alex told viewers, “I want you to take a closer look. Somewhere on this ice plant is a snake.”
“And not just a snake, but a poisonous snake. So I want you to see if you can find the snake.”
“I’ll let you know exactly where it is in a few seconds.”
It was impossible for most viewers to spot the insidious snake camouflaged in its surroundings.
The images surprised many, as they complained that “no one could detect it.”
But some observant TikTok users claimed to have managed to locate the rattlesnake before Alex revealed its whereabouts.
The animal lover then approached the cleverly camouflaged creature to show his followers where it was hiding.
He continued: “In front of our eyes, it’s a South Pacific rattlesnake.
“It’s just been raining, so our little friend is out here looking for a drink of water. He sees me, but he doesn’t want to give up his position now.”
“He sticks his tongue out letting me know ‘hey I know you’re there’ but he’s keeping absolutely cool because he doesn’t want to give up his position now.
“He thinks he’s invisible, which is fine. These are going to be great guys.”
Impressed TikTok users began commenting to share their snake-detection success stories.
One wrote: “Easy when the grass looked different!”
Another added: “Found it, just needed to see the distorted pattern.”
And the third intervened: “I found it right away, I would be good at this!”
But others were baffled by the reptile puzzle, and some admitted to digging in the comments section to find out.
One TikToker said: “Oh, it would eat me before I saw it!”
Another wrote: “Had to watch it three times and still can’t see it.”
Southern Pacific rattlesnakes are often found from southwestern California to Mexico.
They are best known for their regional diversity of dangerous types of venom, capable of delivering a lethal dose.
The species can grow up to 55 inches long and have brown, gray, or yellow fur, making them easy to camouflage in the wild.
