In 2012, Cari Farver brought her Ford Explorer to Dave Kroupa’s auto service centre in Omaha, Nebraska, for maintenance. It took place right away. At the time, Dave and his ex-girlfriend Amy Flora, with whom he shares two kids, were divorced. Additionally, he was seeing Liz Golyar, a lady he met through a dating website.
Like Kroupa, Golyar had two kids and was aware of his urge to interact with other people. According to Cari Farver’s friend Amy Long, who spoke to ABC News, you “couldn’t help but notice Cari,” who always “lit up a room.” That might have attracted Kroupa to Farver. On their first date, Farver informed Kroupa that she wasn’t searching for a long-term relationship.
Later that evening, when Golyar was leaving Kroupa’s apartment, Farver ran into him in the hallway. Like ships in the night, the two hardly acknowledged one another, but that brief exchange would soon develop into something far more foreboding. In November 2012, Farver was staying with Kroupa since she was working on a project and he lived close to her workplace.
On the morning of her departure, Kroupa kissed her good-bye but they never spoke again. But during the next four years, he would continue to hear from her. Few hours after leaving his flat, Farver texted Kroupa to say that she wanted to formally move in with him, even though none of them had made that clear. He gently rejected, and the texts quickly turned hostile.
Investigators learned on December 22, 2016, that Shanna Liz Golyar had brutally murdered Farver in her car almost four years prior, in November 2012. Golyar also spent three years pretending to be Farver. To conceal her horrific act, she used to text members of Farver’s family. To appear innocent, she also shot at her own home, killed her pets, and wounded herself in the leg.
Golyar was also found guilty in 2017 of second-degree arson and first-degree murder. and received a life sentence in prison without the possibility of release. Max, Farver’s son, also resides with Nancy, his grandma. He is looked after by her grandma and works as an application developer. He graduated with a degree in software engineering.
