Carol Burnett is mourning the loss of her friend and collaborator Steve Lawrence.
“Steve was one of my favorite guests on my show, he appeared 39 times. He was also a very close friend of mine…so close that I considered him ‘family’. He will always be in my heart,” wrote the comedian and former show host (90) alongside a black-and-white photo of them performing together at a young age.

I am being medicated under the supervision of some of the best doctors in the area,” Lawrence wrote. “Fortunately, they managed to slow down this terrible process. I live my life, go out in public and try to spend as much time as possible with my family and friends while still being able to engage and enjoy myself.”
The New York native rose to fame as one half of the musical duo Steve and Eydie with his late wife Eydie Gormé.
