More and more brides are opting for wedding dresses that are not white.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York, Lebanese designer Tony Ward, 53, discussed his latest collection with the iconic bridal boutique, which features a range of dresses in new colors and revealed his top trends for 2024.
“I do about 700 to 800 weddings a year worldwide,” says Ward. “I love it [Kleinfelds] because I meet all kinds of people. I can see 50 brides a day.”

The designer, who has transformed his family fashion house (originally founded by his father in 1952), presents six fashion, ready-to-wear and bridal collections a year. Ward’s long list of celebrity clients includes Selena Gomez, Sharon Stone and Mariah Carey. According to the long-time designer, next season brings more sparkling options when it comes to wedding dresses.
One dress featured in his Spring 2024 collection, titled EVERGREEN, features a rose-embroidered tulle dress with a shimmering neckline and gold and silver detailing. Another piece of dress in his Fall 2024 collection features a heart-shaped criss-cross corset that shimmered entirely in silver on a tulle ball gown.
“A lot of brides want sexy plush skin-toned dresses,” says Ward. “Not everyone looks good in white. Blush, pink and gold are trendy.”
“We also did gray for a moment,” he continues. “This season we will have dresses from black to gray to white.”

When it comes to embellishments, Ward explains that while some brides opt for simple gowns, others are still looking for a high shine. “I’m also seeing a lot of lace on wedding dresses now.” She adds that although wedding styles are constantly changing, at the end of the day, the bride should choose the dress in which she feels most confident.
“The bride should feel like a star,” he says. – It is important for them.
As for the length of the dress, Ward says his option is always longer. “I’m against short dresses,” he adds. “You have a lifetime to wear short dresses, but not to your wedding.”
The designer also says that while he’s also in favor of brides buying multiple dresses for their special day, he knows that might not be an option for those on a budget. She suggests looking for a dress that can be repurposed into multiple looks.
“I love a dress that changes without having to change the dress,” she says. “Transformable options with a skirt or layer on top or even dresses with a detachable collar.”
