Céline Dion Attends Hockey Game and Has the Players ‘Cracking Up’ in a Recent, Rare Public Appearance

Céline Dion charmed a handful of NHL players in a recent, rare public outing.

Shortly after the pop superstar, 55, made her first public appearance in months at the 2024 Grammy Awards in early February, she also stepped out in Las Vegas to attend an Edmonton Oilers vs. Vegas Golden Knights hockey game. Just over a month after the Feb. 6 game, the Canadian hockey team took to Instagram to share a video of a fun interaction they shared with Dion in the locker room.

In the clip, the Grammy winner (who was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022) appeared to be in good spirits as she joked about how “exciting” she is to meet the athletes.

“[It’s] exciting for me — those big boys, like, just on flats,” said Dion, who was dressed casually but chic in a cream sweater dress with her hair pulled back.

“I can’t imagine myself on skates with all the equipment,” she added humorously, impersonating a hockey player at the rink.

Oilers left winger Zach Hyman smiled and laughed at the “My Heart Will Go On” singer’s impression, and in the caption, the team wrote, “Celine got Hyms fired up 😂.”

Along with the short video, the NHL team also shared a trailer for the upcoming episode of their series Dropwhich included recordings of the Canadian singer.

After shaking hands with several athletes, she joked: “I have three boyfriends. What do you think: I’m going to see Beauty and the Beast Every night?”

Shortly after the game, a video of the singer-songwriter’s visit to the dressing room appeared on social media and was shared again by fans. As well as greeting individual players with a big smile on her face, she and her sons – René-Charles Angélil, 23, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 13 – also appeared to pose for photos with the team.

Since being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare autoimmune neurological disorder, and canceling tour dates for the foreseeable future, Dion seems to have found joy in attending hockey games with her sons. For her first public appearance in three and a half years, she and her family watched the Montreal Canadiens take on the Vegas Golden Knights in Vegas and stopped by the locker room, reportedly even singing “a few notes.”

Just days before an Oilers game in February, Dion presented the coveted Album of the Year award at the Grammys, which eventually went to Taylor Swift for her 2022 album. Midnight.
