Chaka Khan Says She ‘Will Not Do Another Tour’: ‘I Got This Rich-Ass Life’ 

“I’ll have dates, but it won’t feel like a tour,” the R&B icon told Rolling Stone in a recent interview

“Ain’t Nobody” will convince Chaka Khan to get back on the road.

The queen of funk (70) revealed in a new interview for Rolling stone that he “won’t go on another tour” for the rest of his career. Although the music legend said she has no plans to retire from performing live – at least not yet – she’s tired of traveling on the tour bus now that she has “this rich life”.

“Some people, that’s all they got, you know?” Khan said of the detour to the exit. “I have this rich life. I have great-grandchildren that I want to get to know better. So I’m not going on another tour.”

The R&B superstar continued: “I’ll have dates, but it won’t feel like a tour. They will be far enough apart that I can have time to sleep in between.”

The “I’m Every Woman” singer also clarified why touring no longer fits her lifestyle. The star said: “Riding on a bus, peeing in a tiny bathroom, waking up in the morning and being five hours from a hotel where you can take a bath or shower and go to bed like a normal human being. And then you got a gig that night.”

“It’s bloody crazy,” she added. “It was just madness. It’s like being a truck driver and a contractor. It’s as lonely as any exit.”

While the hitmaker (whose real name is Yvette Marie Stevens) may be retiring from performing for a long time, she has also discussed potentially retiring from performing altogether in the future. “Well, I could do it three or four times, like other bitches do,” she joked.

In 2023, Khan celebrated her 70th birthday and 50th anniversary in the music industry with several concerts. He’ll continue to honor the milestone next year — kicking off 2024 with a show in Los Angeles on January 27, before headlining several festivals across the UK next summer.

In addition to celebrating her big musical anniversary last year, the “Through the Fire” artist was also among the 2,023 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Earlier this year, Khan in an interview for Party tonight.

Khan said: “The thing is, if you have a calling or a dream, you’re either going to pursue it or you’re going to crash and burn; kill yourself or kill someone else or something, you know? You’re gonna have to do it, it’s gotta be done. Or you have to choose something else. Because an invitation is just an invitation. It’s that simple. It’s bigger than you. So you have to do it. And if not t, the post office is always hiring.”

She jokingly added: “I’ve done everything but hit the back of my head… I feel like I’ve done a lot.” I wonder, you know, what’s next?”
