Channing Tatum Shows Off His Superhero Action Moves After Making Surprise Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine

Channing Tatum traded in his signature dance moves for superhero action moves.

Tatum, 44, who made a cameo in Marvel Studios’ latest blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverineshared a look at his preparations for the surprise role of Gambit/Remy LeBeau.

In the hit movie, Step out The alum plays the X-Men character he’s been trying to bring to the big screen for more than a decade.

On Tuesday, August 6, Tatum posted a video on Instagram showing various clips of him practicing his hand-to-hand combat for the film, as well as using Gambit’s signature bō stick.

He also shared some clips of his costume rehearsal and introduction to Gambit’s look.

“Couillon-zwah!” he simply titled the post.

The 21 Jump Street star also reposted Reynolds’ post from Monday, Aug. 5 on Instagram, in which he thanked Tatum for his involvement. Tatum added the post to his Instagram Stories and wrote, “This sweet man made me cry 😭.” Adding, “Laissez le bon temps rouler (Let the goods roll).”

Reynolds, 47, also shared a photo of Tatum on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday, writing: “Can’t say enough about the craziness — this guy can actually play cards. He must not be allowed near any casinos. Ever.” Tatum reposted Stories to his profile.

In a tribute to Reynolds on Monday, he wrote, “Gambit is the guy Chan was born to play,” Reynolds, 47, wrote on Instagram on Monday, Aug. 5, alongside a gallery of photos of Tatum working on Deadpool & Wolverine. “His story is similar to my journey in Deadpool – in that Chan spent a decade trying to put the most accurate version of Gambit on the big screen.”

“Remy LeBeau is grafted into his soul and he has to come out and make a deal,” Reynolds continued, “Some characters can only exist in a one-in-a-billion pair and that’s it. Gambit found its author in Chan. He’s one of the coolest, smartest characters in comics, and he’s still largely unexplored.”

Tatum was first considered to play Gambit in 2006 X-Men: The Last Stand, but the character was dropped from the film. Three years later, Taylor Kitsch was cast in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). Tatum remained adamant that Gambit would have his own standalone film, but in 2019 when Disney completed its purchase of 20th Century Fox, the film was cancelled.

Five years later, Tatum was able to revive his vision of Gambit, and since he thanked Reynolds and Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy for support.
