Chappell Roan can officially cross an important item off his bucket list!
Roan, 26, will make a musical guest appearance on the November 2 episode Saturday night live — and it’s clearly a goal the singer-songwriter has had for more than a decade.
On Friday, Nov. 1, Roan — whose birth name is Kayleigh Amstutz — took to Instagram to post a screenshot of her Facebook status from April 2011. The status simply read, “I’m determined to be on SNL.”
“Good luck, honey!” the singer captioned her Instagram post, “@nbcsnl Tmrw night with @johnmulaney 💋.” Comedian John Mulaney is set to host the episode.

It is not clear whether Roan’s younger self was determined to appear as the musical guest or host. In conversation with comedian Bowen Yang for Interview magazine in August, Roan explained that at first she thought she would be an actress.
“I originally got into music because I wanted to get into acting,” she said. “And then I moved to Los Angeles, and I was like, ‘F— that.’ ”
“The industry is legitimately so scary and so out of my control,” she continued. “I can play music whenever I want. I don’t have to wait for a casting director to say, ‘It would be great if we could hire you, and then we’ll decide on your schedule for the next three months.’ ”

Roan appeared in several promos for the latest SNL episode. The clips show Roan in an elaborate turquoise costume standing next to Mulaney, 42, and co-star Ego Nwodim.
“Hi, I’m John Mulaney and I’m the host SNL this week with musical guest Chappelle Roan,” Mulaney says in the first of two videos.
“And we won’t tell anyone our secret,” says Nwodim, looking straight into the camera.
“We’re going to do sketches,” Mulaney continues, and Roan adds, “And I’m going to do songs.”
“But we won’t tell anyone our secret,” Mulaney says firmly.
“Because we promised each other we’d never tell anyone,” the trio say eerily together in unison.
The second promo video is a fun nod to the viral TikTok trend featuring Roan’s wildly popular song “HOT TO GO.” In the clip, Nwodim hilariously fails to get Mulaney to join the trend, prompting Roan to quip, “He don’t get it, girl.”
