Cher has filed for custody of her son Elijah Blue Allman due to his alleged recent substance abuse issues.

According to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by PEOPLE, the singer and actress, 77, is seeking to be the sole guardian of her son’s estate, claiming he is “grossly unable to manage his financial resources.”

A representative for Cher did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. A hearing for the temporary order is currently scheduled for January 5, 2024, and a hearing for the permanent order is scheduled for March 6, 2024.
