Cher Reveals the One Thing All Women Should Do at Least Once: ‘Go Out with a Younger Man’

Cher believes in life after love — and a little advice for women everywhere.

The pop icon, 77, appeared in a series of interviews with Amelia Dimoldenberg on YouTube Chicken shop date and in the episode released on Friday, the presenter asked her what she thinks all women should do at least once in their lives. Above all, the superstar responded with a quick dating tip.

“Date a younger man,” the Grammy winner replied, immediately after Dimoldenberg asked what she thought.

Later, discussing the positives of dating someone younger, she said: “Older men just don’t like me.”

The “Believe” singer has a history of dating younger men — like Val Kilmer, Tom Cruise and Rob Camilletti in the 1980s — and recently relied on her romantic wisdom by dating her current boyfriend, Alexander “AE” Edwards.

Although, she explained on Chicken shop date that she broke her own rules – including feeling she should no longer be with younger men – by falling in love with a music director, 37.

Cher explained that while she “didn’t at all” fall in love with Edwards quickly, she eventually became smitten with him because of the lyrics, which she thought was against her better judgment.

“I went to Switzerland, and he texted me ‘Where are you going?’ I said, “I’m going to Switzerland.” I’m a little tired,’ and then he wrote me, ‘Well, rest a little,’ with three Ys,” she shared. “And I say, ‘He doesn’t know me well enough to put three Ys on a baby.’ I was kind of mad. And then he just started texting me.”

The “Hearts of Stone” artist continued: “I told my friends, don’t fall in love with a younger man, we’re too old. And don’t fall in love via text. There goes that theory.”

The singer-songwriter first met the record producer at Paris Fashion Week last year. After a mutual friend shared her number with him and a few months of dating, the two announced their romance in the fall of 2022.

In an October interview with PEOPLE, the music legend previously spoke about how she decided to break her own rules with Edwards “because he’s so special.”

The recording artist, who recently released her first holiday album, also explained that she is “not surprised” by fans’ interest in their relationship.

“Alexander has diamond teeth, tattoos, white hair and is much younger. He is a beautiful man – said the pop legend. “Also, I think it’s fun to pry into other people’s love lives!”

She added: “Whatever happens, I love being with him. He makes me laugh and we have fun. What I’ve learned is that it’s never too late. If you wrote all the statistics, you’d say, ‘Well, this is doomed.’ But we’ve been together for a year, and if it was only a year, it would have been worth it. I had the best time.”
