Blogger Whose 3-Year-Old Son Drowned Says Family Is ‘Humbled’ by Support Shown amid the ‘Impossible’

A lifestyle blogger whose three-year-old son drowned earlier this month is speaking out for the first time.

On Sunday, Laura Merritt Walker — who runs the popular Instagram account Merritt & Style with her sister Cristie Merritt Taylor — posted a joint statement from herself and husband David on Instagram, thanking followers for their support after the couple recently announced the death of their son Callahan.

“We are humbled by the love and support of this community,” begins the statement the couple signed. “Thank you for the love, messages and prayers for our entire family. We can’t tell you how grateful we are and how they are helping us through the impossible.”

In the Instagram Story post, the couple also included a link to a playlist filled with songs they said have “blessed” them every day since their youngest son’s death.

“We wanted to share the playlist we put together. It’s on repeat in our home. The truth of these songs blesses us every day,” they wrote. “These are songs that we have loved in our family for years and each one has a special place for us.”

“We hope I can bless you and meet you wherever you are. God is good,” Laura and David continued.

The couple, who are also parents to sons Chamberlain, 7½, and Beckham, 10, announced Callahan’s death in an Instagram post on Monday.

“We are absolutely heartbroken to say that we lost our precious Callahan in a tragic accident last week. He was such a blessing and brought so much joy to our entire family,” the post read. “Cal-Bear was absolutely adored and loved beyond measure by his older brothers. As parents we are completely devastated by the loss of our boy.”

The nature of the accident that resulted in Callahan’s death has not been publicly confirmed by his parents or family members.

A Frisco, Texas, police sergeant confirmed to PEOPLE this week that FPD officers responded to a call about a drowning child about two weeks ago. Other details about the incident that led to Callahan’s death remain unknown.
