American drag star Cherry Valentine has passed away at the age of 28, according to a statement from his family. Valentine was a contestant in RuPaul’s Drag Race UK who passed away on September 18, 2022 of unknown cause. Valentine’s family, whose real name is George Ward, sent a statement to The Guardian, which read:
“It is with great regret that I must inform you that George – Cherry Valentine – has sadly passed away.” Most people would be shocked and we know there’s no easy way to tell the news.” “As his family, we are still processing his death and our lives will never be the same.” We realize how much he is loved and how many people he has inspired and influenced. All we ask is your patience and prayers during this difficult time. Georgie, we adore you.”

All about Cherry Valentine
Valentine was born on November 30, 1993 in Darlington, County Durham, England. The 28-year-old late celebrity grew up in a travel community. He claimed on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK that his career was not accepted by his community and that he hid his travel history from the LGBTQIA+ community. George Ward became a mental health nurse in 2015, and three years later a drag performer known as Cherry Valentine. He also worked at a Covid vaccination facility during the coronavirus outbreak. He was selected as a contestant on the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK in December 2020, kicking off his television career.
He describes his alter ego Valentino as “gothic” and “charming” and says his job as a nurse helps him understand people better.
“As a drag queen, you have to work with people.” And I believe you will go above and beyond to understand people.”
Valentine starred in the BBC documentary Cherry Valentine: Gypsy Queen and Proud, broadcast in January 2022. In the video, George mentions that he feels like an outsider and only communicates with his mother after moved away at the age of 18. He also talked about how he struggled to fit in at a young age.
“My first memory is hanging out with all the boys at one of the camps, and I felt like I should play with the girls in the doll sled and get my hair done, but I never felt like Fit.”
Valentine also claims that his beloved avatar is a part of him, claiming that we are “the same person”.
