Cher’s Son Elijah Blue Allman Steps Out in Rare Appearance with Wife at Comedy Show amid Conservatorship Drama

Elijah Blue Allman and his wife, Marieangela “Queenie” King, made rare public appearances Monday amid his mother Cher’s ongoing legal battle seeking custody of her son.

Allman and King attended Christina Peake’s comedy show to benefit the Breast Cancer Bandit at the Ziggy Hotel in West Hollywood. A source told PEOPLE that Allman seemed in good spirits as he and King hung out with fellow comedians and DJ Paul Oakenfold.

While speaking with other attendees at the event, King said that she and Allman had “never been stronger.” After the show, King could be heard remarking, “That’s what we needed, to be with friends and laugh.”

Allman and King’s date night comes after a Los Angeles County judge granted the former’s request to dismiss his divorce. Allman first filed for divorce from King, 36, in 2021 after they tied the knot in December 2013. They have since reconciled amid legal drama with Cher.

In a filing opposing Cher’s request obtained by PEOPLE, Allman wrote that he and King have “reconciled and cohabited” — and noted that Cher, 77, “opposes my reconciliation with Marieangela.” As a result, he wrote, she “refused” to pay his family counsel.

The judge ruled against Chera’s proposed ban because Allman proved he had “managed his finances” and had “remained drug-free” after multiple drug tests. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for March.

In her first filing in December 2023, Cher requested temporary custody of her son’s estate as sole guardian, claiming that he is “grossly unable to manage his financial resources.” The custody request comes months after court documents revealed King claimed Cher once forcibly removed Allman from a hotel room.

As for the kidnapping claims, Cher exclusively told PEOPLE in October “that the rumors are not true” and declined to comment further. But she confirmed that the private family matter is related to her son’s ongoing addiction problems.

“I don’t suffer from any problem that millions of people in the United States don’t have,” Cher said of her son’s long-standing struggles with substance abuse at the time. “I am a mother. This is my job — to try to help my children in one way or another. You do everything for your children. Whenever you can help them, just do it because that’s what being a mother is all about. But it’s a joy, even with the heartache – mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and love them, and try to be there for them.”
