Chicken Run is back!
On Tuesday, Netflix debuted the first trailer for Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nuggetwhich serves as a sequel to the original 2000 clay film.
Thandiwe Newton leads the new voice cast as Ginger, while Zachary Levi portrays Rocky and The last of us star Bella Ramsey plays the couple’s daughter, Molly. The trailer introduces Ginger and Rocky as Ginger prepares to lead a mission to break into a chicken farm instead of escaping one, as the group did in the original film.
While some seem to doubt whether or not Ginger can pull off the latest mission, the chickens seem as determined as ever to break into the high-security farm – until they once again run into the evil Mrs. Tweedy (Miranda Richardson), who returns after trying to bake chicken in pies in the original film.

The new film comes from the studio Aardman Animations Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the sheepand director Sam Fell, who shot in 2012 paranorman and in 2006 He washed himself off. (New Wallace and Gromit the film is also coming to Netflix in 2024.)
“After a death-defying escape from Tweedy’s farm, Ginger finally finds her dream – a peaceful island retreat for the entire herd, away from the dangers of the human world,” reads the film’s official synopsis.
“When she and Rocky hatch a baby girl named Molly, Ginger’s happy ending seems complete. But out there on land, the entire chicken species faces a new and terrible threat. For Ginger and her team, even if it means going to great lengths – won freedom in danger – this time they are breaking in.”

The voice cast also includes Imelda Staunton, Lynn Ferguson, David Bradley, Jane Horrocks, Romesh Ranganathan, Daniel Mays, Josie Sedgwick-Davies, Peter Serafinowicz and Nick Mohammed.
In the original film, Mel Gibson voiced Rocky and Julia Sawalha played Ginger. News of the sequel was first announced in June 2020.

Director Fell called the film’s villain Mrs. Tweedy “one of the greatest of all time” in a statement as he shared his impression of working with Richardson, 65, in the role decades after she originally voiced the character.
“Now she’s out to wreak industrial-scale revenge on all kinds of chicken with Dawn of the Nugget,” he said of Ms Tweedy’s intentions in the new film. “We had so much fun working with Miranda Richardson to transform Melisha Tweedy into the ultimate 1960s supervillain.”
Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget begins streaming on Netflix on December 15.
