Chris Martin Draws Huge Crowd with Surprise Performance in the Streets of Dublin amid Coldplay World Tour

On stage or off, Coldplay knows how to get a crowd going.

Ahead of the band’s first of four concerts in Dublin on Thursday, August 29, singer Chris Martin caused quite a stir in the Irish capital when he surprised the Grafton Street crowd with a performance of new track “WE PRAY” — including with all his collaborators.

On Wednesday night, August 28, Nigerian singer Burna Boy, English rapper Little Simz, Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna and Argentinian singer Tini – all of whom are featured on the song, which dropped on August 23 – hit the streets with Martin, 47, for a pop-up performance.

Armed with nothing but speakers and a few microphones, the star-studded group each performed their roles as the crowd filmed and cheered, as shown in footage shared on Coldplay’s social media.

“On my knees, I pray, as I sleep and wake / ‘Cause inside my head is a scary place,” Burna Boy, 33, sings in one clip. “Keep a smiling face, just by this grace / ‘Cause love is more than I can bear.”

Other footage shows a group of musicians smiling, dancing and singing together as people not only crowd around them, but also peer through windows to catch a glimpse of the performance.

In an Instagram post dedicated to a special performance of “WE PRAY,” Coldplay called the night at Grafton Street a “magical moment.”

“WE ARE BEGGING. Grafton Street, Dublin,” the post reads. “Magical moment with @burnaboygram, @littlesimz, @elyanna, @tinistoessel. Thanks to everyone who showed up and to TikTok for helping make it happen.”

In the video, Marin appears to be giving the artists some kind of encouragement as they join hands for a circle before the show.

“That’s it,” the Coldplay frontman concludes in the clip as someone off-camera shouts, “You guys are going to be amazing!”

The performance comes as part of Coldplay’s A Head Full of Dreams tour. After four concerts in Dublin’s Croke Park, the band will take an almost two-month break, during which their upcoming album, Music of the moonis scheduled for October 4.
