Arrested for drug trafficking case
In April 2023, Christian was arrested by the UAE police at the Sharjah International Airport in the United Arab Emirates on a drug trafficking case. She was reportedly a drug trafficker in an international drug gang run by absconding Indian gangster Ravi Rattesar. Shortly after her arrest, she was taken to Sharjah Central Prison and informed the Indian Consulate about the arrest. In an interview, her brother Kevin said of her arrest that Krisian was a victim of drug trafficking. Her family further revealed that Krisian was cheated by a man named Ravi. Ravi first texted Christian’s mother to say his agency wanted to cast Christian in an international web series. In an interview, her mother said of the scam:
After a series of meetings, Christian’s audition in Dubai was locked in, with all arrangements being handled by Christian. On April 1, before Chrisann boarded a flight, the accused asked her to meet her at a cafe 10 minutes away from Mumbai International Airport. He handed her a trophy, perhaps mentioning that the trophy was part of the audition script and was required for the audition. So she took the trophy with her. “
Her mother further revealed that when Krisian arrived at Sharjah airport, she tried to contact Ravi but he did not pick up the phone. In an interview, speaking about Chrisanne’s arrest, her brother said:
We have hired a local lawyer in Dubai which will cost us 1.3 million rupees. We still don’t know what the official charges will be and if there will be any fines. My family is preparing to mortgage our house as we have learned that the penalty could be between Rs. 200,000-4 million. It’s been over 13 days and we haven’t been able to sleep, eat or rest and are so worried about her and the scammers are on the loose. “
She was released from Sharjah prison on April 27, 2023. In the drug smuggling case, the actress was allegedly targeted by a baker named Anthony Paul and his associate Rajesh Babhote alias Ravi ) framed. On April 27, 2023, the Mumbai City District Court remanded Anthony Paul and his associate Rajesh Babhote (alias Ravi) to police custody. In addition to Chrisann Pereira, they framed four other people as drug mules. Police say Anthony Paul grew marijuana and opium in packages to five people, including the actor, to settle a personal score.
