However, Kevin Hurley, a former detective chief superintendent with the Metropolitan authorities, asserts that 16 years after young Madeleine vanished, “it’s very unlikely” that authorities will discover anything.
The Arade dam has a five-mile-square surface area and is many kilometres long. Christian Brueckner, the investigation’s main suspect, referred to the location in the past as a “little paradise.”

“I didn’t know at the time which lake it was, but I soon communicated all this information to the Portuguese Judiciary Police, who completely ignored them, and then to Metodo 3, the Spanish private detective agency that was later hired by Madeleine’s parents to look for their daughter,” Mr. Correia told Express.co.uk.
“Methodo 3 did everything in its power to look for Madeleine and learn what had happened to her. It was the only ‘institution’ that paid attention to me.
German authorities asked for a new search at the Arade dam because they think the main suspect, Christian Brueckner, killed Madeleine after taking her from a vacation home in Praia Da Luz in 2007.
The German police’s request for the search is unknown, but DCS Hurley has offered a few hypotheses as to why. He claimed that someone in contact with Bruckner may have provided an “indication” regarding the dam.
As an alternative, “psychopath” Brueckner might be “manipulating the German investigators for attention-seeking purposes”.
He also said that he might be attempting to “negotiate some kind of deal” regarding the additional counts for which he is facing charges in Germany. “He might say let me help you with this and it might improve any potential sentencing outcome he’s got,” Mr Hurley continued.
Paedophile Christian Brueckner, who is imprisoned, was named the main suspect in April. At the same resort where Maddie vanished in 2005, he sexually assaulted an elderly American woman.
