Police have revealed that a 39-year-old man was shot dead by armed police on Christmas Eve.
West Mercia Police described the incident which happened on Fownhope Close in Redditch, Worcestershire, yesterday.

At around 2pm, officers were called to the scene after significant concerns were raised.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was the first to arrive, fearing for the safety of the knife-wielding man.
At approximately 7:40 p.m., a man was shot dead by armed police after a police negotiator spent several hours trying to resolve the situation.
He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 8pm, with no one else believed to have been at the address.
West Mercia Police made an immediate referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) following the events leading up to yesterday evening.
Assistant Chief Constable Grant Wills said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with everyone affected at this difficult time.
“We do not underestimate the shock and concern this may cause in the local community and I want to reassure residents that we are following all appropriate procedures, which include making an immediate referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), as is mandatory and right.
“We will support their investigation, which will include providing any information we have, including body-worn camera footage.”
