Paul “PK” Kemsley is speaking out about his estranged wife Dorit Kemsley’s recent claims about his sobriety.
During a recent appearance on Bravo Hot Mic Podcastthe The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills husband, 57, admitted he was “shocked, disappointed and upset” when he saw Dorit, 48, describe his alcoholism and hint that it led to their split.
“I’m really proud and public about my sobriety, and I’m 12 months in two weeks,” he began. “I’m completely clear now. My public sharing of my sobriety was about recovery. It was to inspire other people that you can recover, no matter how dark it gets. You can’t do it alone. it takes people.”
Calling his alcohol addiction “a cunning, sophisticated disease”, PK said the road to sobriety had been “a very emotional, difficult journey, the hardest I’ve really been through”.

“It’s one of those things that the older you get, the worse it gets. So the lack of understanding of sobriety is not her fault. She didn’t invest in it,” he said of Dorit. “She didn’t do the program and she didn’t do what I did. So there’s no such thing as a complete alcoholic. You’re either an alcoholic or you’re not, right?”
On the season 14 premiere RHOBHDorit opened up about the couple’s split in an interview with Kathy Hilton.
Although she loved PK, Dorit admitted that she wasn’t so sure he was willing to put in the “work” for a “healthy, happy, peaceful marriage.” When asked if the duo had told their children – Jagger, 8, and Phoenix, 8 – Dorit revealed they had no plans to share the news.

Why RHOBHDorit Kemsley and her husband PK have decided not to tell their children that they are separated
“We can do things as a family, like we’re not in a toxic place. He has a sober coach that I’m not privy to,” she explained of their dynamic, before asserting, “He’s a real alcoholic.”
In the podcast, PK claimed that some of Dorit’s “descriptions” of what led to the end of their relationship were not entirely accurate.
“Obviously alcoholism had an element of responsibility in the breakdown of our marriage, but that was only a component, wasn’t it?” he continued, adding that alcoholism is a “symptom,” not a cause. “So the reality is you have to get to what the cause was. So it’s not as simple as saying he was a real alcoholic. That’s why we’re separated.”

He also addressed Dorit’s claims that she “stood by me” through “bankruptcies, gambling debts, DUIs” and said that wasn’t “quite true.” PK said his bankruptcy and his debts were “long before I met her” and that he has since “recovered from all the things that have happened in my extraordinary career”.
“When someone you love, Dorit, is on TV talking about the darkest moments of my life and suggesting that she held my hand through them, it’s hard to watch sometimes,” he explained. “So from my perspective, I can see that she’s emotionally distraught, unhappy, and it was filmed at a really unhappy time, and we just drifted apart. That was the lowest time.”
In May 2024, Dorit and PK announced they were separating after nine years of marriage in a joint statement shared on their Instagram stories. The couple said at the time that they “made a joint and difficult decision to take some time and reevaluate our relationship while making our children our priority,” adding that they “appreciate your love and support as we continue to do the work that is necessary during this journey.”
Neither party has yet filed for divorce.
