Cole Hauser and Cynthia Daniel prioritize family time with their three children.
Hauser and Daniel, who started dating in the 1990s and married in 2006, have had three children in more than 25 years together: sons Ryland and Colt and daughter Steely Rose.
Although the couple offers fans a glimpse into their family life on social media, they rarely talk about their children in interviews. While talking to The Havok Journal in July 2022 Yellowstone star made rare comments about his family, sharing insight into how he balances his professional career and private life as an actor.
“I manage well in separating work and family. Those are my two biggest passions,” he explained. “I’m not the type to forget them. I always find time for each of my children, as well as my wife, also, as a family together. It’s good for me to find time for the whole family.”
He added: “You have to figure out that balance. But as a father and a husband you have to find the time and work just as hard at it.”

This balance came into practice while filming the fourth season of the series Yellowstone on location during the COVID-19 pandemic. He told PEOPLE in November 2020 that he saw the period as a lesson in “how important it is to take advantage of family.”
“It’s been a little bit difficult the last couple of years just because I’m gone for five months at a time,” he said, explaining how his family copes when he’s away from home. “It’s not easy being a parent from afar. Steely is an absolute gun and they’re great guys, they kind of take care of keeping mum and Steely under control and I’m proud of them.”

Hauser and Daniel welcomed their first child, son Ryland, on September 20, 2004.
He attended his first three years of high school at Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, California, before his family moved to Florida in the summer of 2022, ahead of his senior year of high school. During high school, Ryland was a student athlete who played football at several positions, including tight end, wide receiver and defensive end.
In May 2023, Ryland graduated from Jensen Beach High School, which Daniel celebrated on social media.
She wrote in part, “It wasn’t easy running your junior year, but you turned this challenge into a victory.”
At the start of his senior year of high school, Ryland had several offers to play football at various colleges, including Warner University, Mississippi State University and the University of North Alabama.
Ultimately, Ryland decided to attend Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Hauser shared the news on social media, writing that he was “very proud” of Ryland for his achievement, adding, “I can’t wait to see my next chapter in life.”
Ryland then expressed his gratitude to his parents, commenting on his dad’s post with a sentimental message about him growing up. In his comment, the teenager thanked his parents for “making me the man I am today.”
Ryland added, “You’ve done an amazing job raising me, showing that anything is possible if I put my mind to it! I can’t wait to chase my dreams and turn words into reality!”
Much like his father, who serves on the board of directors of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Ryland has shown his philanthropic side in recent years. Along with two of his friends, Ryland was nominated for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Student of the Year in early 2022, a cause dear to the family because Daniel’s sister, Brittany Daniel, was previously diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Ryland and his friends wanted to raise $250,000 in less than two months, Hauser explained. At the end of the fundraiser, Daniel shared on social media that Ryland and his friends were runners-up and raised just under $200,000 for the nonprofit.

Over the years, Hauser has shared several special bonding moments with his younger son on Instagram. Colt and Ryland had the opportunity to race at The Thermal Club in California with their father, an experience the actor described as “a great day with my 2 sons.”
In the past, Colt has also enjoyed some one-on-one time with Hauser, including volunteering at the Simi Valley VFW in April 2018, during which the actor cooked several dozen steaks while his son helped serve them to veterans. In October 2017, Hauser also took his son fly fishing.
Along with his siblings and parents, Colt enjoyed a trip to Italy in March 2023, which included a family “cruise through Tuscany” on bicycles and a trip to the Colosseum in Rome.

Over the years, both Hauser and Daniel spoke highly of their only daughter. Hauser said on his Instagram that Steely is “pretty like a sunset” alongside a photo of him posing on a boat with their dog at sunset.
Daniel also described his daughter as a source of laughter for the family, writing in honor of her 10th birthday: “It’s never boring when you’re around. Thanks for making us laugh.”
