Conor McGregor Rejects Rape Case Outcome, Calls Accuser a 'Vicious Liar' in Social Media Rant: 'We Are Not Done Yet'

A day after being found guilty in a civil rape and sexual assault case, Conor McGregor took to social media to rant about the “lies” told by his accuser and his plans to appeal.

On Friday, Nov. 22, a civil jury in Ireland found the MMA fighter, 36, liable for the “brutal” rape and beating of a woman named Nikita Hand in a civil lawsuit filed in 2021. The jury also ordered him to pay damages totaling of about 257,000 US dollars, according to the Associated Press and The Guardian.

The attack happened while Hand was drunk in December 2018, after she invited McGregor to join her and a friend at a business holiday party in Dublin. She also accused McGregor’s friend, James Lawrence, of assaulting her that night, but a jury did not find Lawrence responsible, according to The Guard.

Reacting to the verdict on Saturday, November 23, McGregor celebrated Lawrence’s outcome and insisted he was also not responsible, repeatedly accusing Hand of lying in a series of posts on X (formerly known as Twitter).

First, McGregor shared Irish Independent article whose headline included a quote about justice being served and reiterated its previously announced plans to appeal the outcome.

“Justice has been served for James Lawrence, yes! It’s sad what they did,” the athlete wrote. “Nikita Hand, you wicked liar! APPEAL!”

He then shared another online story about the outcome of the case, this time including a quote from Ireland’s justice minister praising Hand for her “courage and determination” after Friday’s outcome. “Falsely accused a man of rape and lost,” McGregor wrote alongside the article.

Then the MMA fighter once again accused Hand of lying and said that “he is not done yet”.

“Two men falsely accused,” the Nov. 23 post began. “One vindicated, the other soon to be! Congratulations James Lawrence on your full acquittal! Twice this heinous charge has been leveled at you and twice shown to be a LIE! LIES! It’s absolutely disgraceful what they put you through here. I look forward to seeing you You continue to justify yourself as responsible in court!”

“We know what happened that night!” the athlete continued. “Everyone present knows, but it was ignored. Every single statement of those present that night was ignored. And they all disputed Nikita’s LIES!”

In the same post, McGregor called Hand’s allegations “absolute nonsense,” accused her of changing her “original story” and questioned the legitimacy of the court that ruled in her favor. “How those lies were accepted, I will never know,” he wrote.

“We’re not done yet. Not by a long shot. No way,” concluded the MMA fighter. “We are fighting! Justice and truth will win! Appeal! Appeal! Appeal! Like the rest. Congratulations James! Go ahead and up! 🙏.”

McGregor faced multiple sexual assault charges in addition to Hand’s allegations. In 2022, a woman claimed in a lawsuit that McGregor hit her and threatened to drown her while they were celebrating his birthday on a boat in Ibiza. He rejected the accusations, and the proceedings are still ongoing.

McGregor was again accused of sexual assault in 2023 when a woman claimed she was “forcefully” forced to perform oral sex in a bathroom at the Kaseya Center in Miami. Prosecutors, however, said they would not pursue the case due to “insufficient evidence,” according to ESPN.
