Christina Aguilera strives for balance when it comes to choosing the perfect holiday wardrobe.
The pop star, 43, tells PEOPLE exclusively that she loves casual looks as much as glam outfits, depending on the occasion, amid the holiday season.
During her free time, Aguilera likes to “be comfortable” in her favorite sweatpants, cashmere and slippers. “But if I’m going to a holiday party,” she adds, “I like to spice up the festivities with a little sparkle, usually [with] gold, silver, and red,” plus, wearing many accessories.
Some of her staples can be found in H&M’s Studio holiday collection, like the (now sold out) sparkly cropped cardigan and gold leather hot pants with ears.
“The subtle shimmer on these pieces is what makes them perfect for the holidays,” says Aguilera, who had the honor of cutting the ribbon on H&M’s renovated New York flagship store on Nov. 21.

Makeup and manicures are other ways Aguilera brings a flashy element to her outfit. “Glam glittery red lips are always a fun touch, or shimmery eyeshadow and polish,” she says.
In addition, body and skin care are currently priorities in the life of the founder of Playground.

Her favorite wintertime rituals, Aguilera says, include “bath time.”
“I’ve always loved bathing and during the holidays I give that routine a little more priority,” she continues. “But also a moisturizer, especially for particularly cold, dry weather. That’s all.”
