Monsters‘ Cooper Koch Says He Felt ‘Instant Connection’ With Erik Menéndez During Prison Visit (Exclusive)
After Monsters‘ release in September, Koch joined Kardashian, 44, her sister Khloé Kardashian and their mom Kris Jenner in visiting the Menéndez brothers at San Diego’s Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, where they have been held since they were sentenced to life in prison in 1996. for the murder of the parents.
Kardashian and Koch spoke with the brothers about Project Green Space, which the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation launched in hopes of combating high recidivism rates by making prison life more like the outside world.
“I was so nervous before I arrived,” Koch told PEOPLE at the time. “I talked to both of them, so I knew we already had a friendship, and they knew what I was up to. I told them that I supported them and that I trusted them. I had a feeling that they would welcome me with open arms, but I was still so nervous to meet someone who you listen to and who inspires you.”
But when Koch came face-to-face with Erika, “there was an immediate connection,” the Golden Globe nominee said. “I got to hug them both and I was sitting next to Erik in this circle with all the other inmates telling their stories, and they were both so kind. They are amazing people.”

I feel my work is better when I feel deeply connected to a story, a person, or a particular meaning or purpose. And so I want to find something that is really special and that I feel very passionate about.”
