A second woman, 38, also suffered serious injuries on Durley Chine beach and is being treated in hospital.

A 17-year-old boy from Lancashire is being questioned by Dorset Police on suspicion of murder and attempted murder following a double stabbing. He is still in custody.

Police have since released images of someone they believe is the suspect and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A young man of slim build, dressed in a dark coat and trousers, with his hood up, walks across the grainy paintings.

Detective Superintendent Richard Dixey said: “Since this tragic incident was reported to us, we have been investigating, gathering as much information as we can to get answers for the loved ones of the young woman who tragically lost her life and for the surviving victim.

“Our thoughts remain with them.

“We are now in a position to release video surveillance footage of the suspect.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the Durley Chine beach area overnight between Friday May 24 and Saturday May 25 and may have seen the person in the picture or anything unusual to come forward.

Det Supt Dixey added: “We are of course very aware of the concern this incident will cause and what it creates further.

“The impact on our communities and the protection of our public are still at the forefront of our minds.

“An increased police presence in the area will remain as long as necessary and if you have any concerns please do not hesitate to speak to an officer.”

The shocking attack happened as thousands of tourists began arriving in Bournemouth for the Whitsun holiday.

Yesterday, a mile-long section of the world-famous beach remained sealed off from Bournemouth Pier to Alum Chine, where flowers were laid in tribute.

Police have carried out extensive searches with metal detectors, suggesting they are still looking for the weapon used in the murder.

Officers combed an area of sand that appeared to be blood-stained near the hollow at Durley Chine, about a 15-minute walk to the pier.

Police said they received a report at 11.42pm on Friday that two people had been stabbed on Durley Chine Beach.

In a statement yesterday, they said: “Sadly, a 34-year-old woman from Poole was pronounced dead at the scene.

Amie worked in sales and was also a personal fitness trainer who managed a local women’s indoor soccer team.

She received her coaching badge from the Football Association in January of this year.

Dorset Futsal Club – where Amie was head women’s coach – changed their profile picture to a black square at the weekend.

‘DEVASTATING NEWS’

They said the club had “received truly devastating news”, adding: “We cannot put it into words at this time and as a mark of respect for all those affected, we will not be making any announcements for the foreseeable future.”

Amien’s cousin posted photos of her receiving a recent award for her work with Dorset Futsal Club.

Grieving friends commented below: “So sorry for your loss, she was a beautiful person.”

Detective Constable Richard Dixey, of the Dorset Major Crime Investigation Team, appealed for anyone in the Durley Chine beach area between 10pm and midnight on Friday to come forward.

He said detectives were working “tirelessly” to progress the investigation.
