After she was born, her parents moved to the Poconos, Pennsylvania, where she lived until she was 14 years old. After her parents separated, Courtney and her mother moved to Seaford, Long Island, to live near her grandmother. She attended Seaford High School. She studied for a Bachelor of Arts (BFA) in Theater at SUNY Fredonia, but dropped out because she lost interest in theater. She then worked as a summer bartender in Fredonia and took acting classes. A year or two later, she moved to Los Angeles. After getting married, she and her husband moved to New York City and lived in a rented house in Huntington, New York.

Facts/Trivia
- In her free time she enjoys cooking, traveling, and watching TV and movies.
- At the age of four, she saw hula dancers on TV and decided to become a dancer. Her mother told her that this was not a career for her. She tried to find another way to appear on TV and dance in front of people. Later, she realized that dancing was not for her and chose to become an actress.
- She was interested in theater from a young age. In ninth grade, her friend Patty asked her to audition for her high school musical, Carousel. During the audition, she pretended to eat an apple while singing a song about clams and was offered a role.
- While in high school, she acted in many school productions. She was also a member of a youth drama group that performed in the town of Hampstead. Her school also had a project called “Showmobile” where they performed different children’s shows in different parks around Hampstead.
- According to her, she almost gave up her acting career before starring in Cobra Kai. In an interview, she said:
My husband told me I couldn’t quit because our health insurance is through SAG. He said, ‘Hold on a little longer until we can figure out the next step for health insurance.’”
She tried her last shot at acting and went on to audition for Cobra Kai. A week later, she was chosen to star in Cobra Kai alongside Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, playing Ralph’s on-screen wife Amanda LaRusso. She said,
During the first two seasons, I absolutely turned his name into a word. He said, ‘You can call me Ralph. ‘”
