Accused of glorifying the practice of mindfulness

In February 2023, when he moved a motion to thank the President for his speech, he talked about Queen Padmavati of Mewar, which caused controversy. CP Josh said,

Rani Padmavati jinhone apne satitva ki raksha ke liye Alauddin Khilji ko kabhi chehra nahin dikhaya. ” (Rani Padmavati never showed herself to Alauddin Khilji to protect her virginity)

He further added,

She was thrown into the blazing fire along with sixteen thousand concubines. But your government has put obstacles in this place. Our government has now recognized the site. “

Opposition members therefore accused him of glorifying the sati custom, in which a widow burns herself by jumping into her late husband’s funeral pyre. Joshi, however, claimed that he did not mention the practice of ‘Sati’ but mentioned that Padmavati performed ‘Jauhar’ (self-immolation) to protect her honour. Denying the allegations against him, he said he did not mention “Sati” and due to weak translation in Hindi, the word was mixed with “Satitva” (chastity).
