Neighbors said the family had gathered to celebrate – but hours later the teenager and a dog were seen running from the flat in Milton Keynes covered in blood.

During the chaos, they also heard desperate cries of “I can’t breathe”.

Both victims died at the scene, while a boy and a man in their late 20s were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police arrived shortly after 6.30pm at the home in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, to find the injured dog, which was taken to a vet but later died.

One tearful neighbor told The Sun: “Around 6pm a woman came out on the balcony – screaming: ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe’.”

He said the boy then ran out of the house and sought refuge with another neighbor.

The witness said that the man in the apartment was “enraged” and the boy was stabbed in the chest and head.

He continued: “The dog ran out covered in blood. In a few minutes there were about 12 ambulances.”

Another shocked witness said doctors treated the bleeding man in the street before taking him to hospital.

He said: “The paramedics were working on him and the other victims were covered with a white sheet.”

The suspect is believed to have attempted to flee the scene in a car before being apprehended by police nearby.

The witness said: “We saw him get into his car. We were on our balcony telling the police, ‘He’s there and he just ran away’.”

Forensic officers were seen searching the house with a Christmas wreath and children’s toys strewn outside.

One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, previously told The Sun: “It’s humiliating.

“I heard all the ambulances last night, but you don’t expect something like this to happen here.

“And on Christmas Day of all days.”

Last night, detectives questioned a 49-year-old man from the city on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of murder and attempted murder.

The two injured men were last night in a stable condition, Thames Valley Police said.

Blood could be seen on the door of the house.

A forensics team was seen investigating and numbered yellow trails of evidence were on the road ahead, including in the boot of a car parked nearby.

Flowers were left in front of the apartment building, including a tribute with a gray teddy bear dressed as Santa Claus.

Shazna Muzammil, a Conservative councilor on Milton Keynes City Council, said in a statement to X: “This is a terrible Christmas and we are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic events at Bletchley.

“Our thoughts are with the families, friends and neighbors of the two women who tragically lost their lives.”

Ms. Muzammil said that those involved in the incident knew each other.

Chief Inspector Stuart Brangwin said: “Firstly I would like to express my deepest sympathies to the families of the women who have tragically died in this shocking incident.

“We have opened a double homicide investigation, which may be of concern to the general public; however, we have arrested and are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident, and the parties are known to each other.”
