Dad Gifts Daughter Disneyland Ticket from 1985 — and the Park Honors It: 'I Forgot All About It'

A magical moment!

A dad gave his teenage daughter a Disneyland ticket that was printed almost four decades ago – and the California theme park in Anaheim has paid tribute.

As ABC 7 reports, Scott King won the free ticket after visiting Disneyland during its 30th anniversary, when every 30th guest received a prize.

“When I got there, they awarded me a ticket and an ‘I’m a winner’ badge, and I said, ‘What about a Cadillac?’ and they laughed and said, ‘Not today, my friend,'” Scott told the newspaper.

But instead of using the free ticket after he got it, Scott kept it and ended up putting it in a scrapbook. “I forgot about it. I really haven’t paid much attention to it over the years,” he explained.

All these years later, Scott told ABC 7 that his daughter, Sabrina King, wanted to visit the theme park with her boyfriend, but was worried about how expensive the trip would be. “I said, ‘You know, I’ve got a ticket. Let me see if I can grab it,'” King told the outlet.

After finding the ticket, Scott and Sabrina reached out to Disneyland to see if they would honor the ticket, which – after confirming its validity – “The Happiest Place on Earth” did.

“I really haven’t been able to sleep that much because I haven’t been to Disneyland since I was six years old. So it’s been over 12 years,” Sabrina told ABC 7.

According to a media release, the teenager’s trip to the California hotspot marked her second visit to the park since 2009, and came just two weeks before she starts college.

ABC 7 reported that a ticket to Disneyland in 1985 was $16.50, compared to today’s prices, with park admission costing around $100.
