Danai Gurira Jokes The Walking Dead Makes Her Envision Worst-Case Scenarios: I’m a ‘Scaredy-Cat’ (Exclusive)

Danai Gurira jokes that there could be a few occupational hazards after starring in AMC’s hit franchise The walking dead.

The Black panther star, 46, admits to being “a bit of a scaredy cat” in this week’s issue of PEOPLE. “I think: ‘If someone broke in, what would I do?’ And with the weather in LA, a little bit of water leaked through my roof, and it’s like, ‘Is this whole ceiling coming down?'” she says. “I think about everyone [worst-case] scenario. Maybe I was involved The walking dead too long.”

Gurira, who returns for AMC’s new spinoff series, The Living Dead: Those Who Livespoke to the magazine for One Last Thing:

Last moment of self-care Whenever I exercise. I try four times a week. Sweating, getting your heart rate up so you feel like you’re recovering a bit. Prayer, meditation, reading the Holy Scriptures. This is also a great self-care for me.

The last time I felt homesick I was back in Zimbabwe in December. Just driving by the house where I grew up and my high school made me nostalgic. I didn’t go inside—I wish I had.

The last time I danced, I was probably getting ready this morning. I have a speaker in the bathroom. It’s all about the music. Like I was at a friend’s 10th wedding anniversary and when the DJ was told, “Just play ’90s hip-hop for this crowd,” it was over.

The last game I played was a very serious game of charades a few Sundays ago with friends. I’m not good, but I’m not bad either — I’m somewhere in the middle. We finished with a draw, but we had to give it up because of that.
