Dance Moms' Kelly Hyland Finishes First Stage of Breast Cancer Treatment: 'I Got This'

Dance moms alum Kelly Hyland has shared the first milestone in her ongoing breast cancer treatment.

The reality star, 53, posted a video on Instagram of herself ringing the bell at her hospital to mark the end of her first round of chemotherapy.

“Got to ring the bell today,” Hyland captioned the video, posted on Aug. 20. “This was the end of my first treatment… the next steps of surgery, 20 radiation and 11 more treatments. I GOT THIS.”

Hyland, dressed in a long white dress and denim jacket, read aloud a sign next to the bell that read: “Ring this bell three times well, it’s his duty to make it clear. My treatment is over, this course is started and I’m on my way !”

Hyland then rang one more time and added with a laugh, “Oops, I rang four times.”

Host Back to Barre and Dear dance mom… podcast then pats the top of her blonde wig, asking, “Is my hair straight?” before embracing what appear to be hospital staff.

The reality star first shared her breast cancer diagnosis in May, saying she was diagnosed with stage 3 invasive cancer after finding a lump in her breast in late March.

Danielle Fishel from A boy meets the world She reveals that at the age of 43 she has an early stage of breast cancer

As the American Cancer Society explains, stage 3 cancer means that “the cancer cells look very different from normal cells and grow faster…High-grade DCIS often turns into invasive breast cancer more often.”

Hyland, who shares children Brooke, 26, Paige, 23, and Josh, 24, with husband Randy, said it was a “very difficult conversation” to share her diagnosis.

As she told the paper, “I hate feeling like I’m inconveniencing anyone or being a burden in any way.”

“However, I’m quickly realizing that I’m in for a very long and difficult journey, so I’m going to have to learn to accept people’s help because I’m very lucky to have people who want to take care of me during this time.”
