“Well, this birthday sure strikes a different note. So I decided to open a bottle of @barefootwine Limited Edition Pride 2020 Rose that I’ve been saving for a special occasion,” Pintauro began in his Instagram Reels caption.

“Surviving 2024 is an absolutely special opportunity! Survive 2024, THRIVE 2025. And then I decided to do a little impromptu photoshoot to reveal the scar!” his caption concluded.

The video, set to Ariana Grande’s “Sweetener,” shows the actor standing shirtless in jeans while pouring himself a glass to celebrate his birthday and being alive.

A diagonal scar was visible that ran from below the chest to above the navel.

Pintauro shared the news of the accident in an Instagram post on Dec. 1, which included shots of him lying in a hospital bed with an intubation tube in his mouth. As the video continued, he explained that he was riding a scooter on a cycle path, when it was “suddenly blocked by cones”.

His husband, Wil Tabares, took him to Memorial Care Miller Hospital in Long Beach, California, where Pintauro ran tests and learned he had “a bloodstream infection from a tear in the lining of my stomach – air and stomach acid, etc., were escaping me in belly.”

“They always say that, but it’s very true, if I had waited a little longer, I could have died. It was my body that told me something was wrong,” he said later in the video.

In a Dec. 19 update, Pintauro said in an Instagram update that he underwent a laparotomy, or open abdominal surgery, according to the Cleveland Clinic, adding that the surgery is usually an “emergency.”

“They removed my stitches and the tube,” he said. “So I’m officially free of everything that’s limiting me, which feels great.”

At the time, Pintauro added that he still had a few weeks left in his recovery, but that he was feeling much better. He also shared a GoFundMe link to help with any expenses not covered by his insurance.

In a message posted on Instagram a week ago, he said he felt at “93 percent” and thanked fans for helping him surpass his GoFundMe goal of $5,000.
