Darius Rucker was arrested Thursday on a minor drug offense in Williamson County, Tennessee.
“Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities regarding the misdemeanor charges,” Rucker’s attorney said in a statement to PEOPLE.
The musician, 57, was arrested on two counts of simple possession/unconstrained exchange of a controlled substance and one count of violating the Tennessee Vehicle Registration Act, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE.
Authorities did not identify the controlled substance.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office took Rucker into custody and charged him with three counts, all misdemeanors. the country star was released on $10,500 bail and is no longer in custody.
It is not known what led to Rucker’s arrest. According to TMZ, which first reported the arrest, police say Rucker allegedly had expired tags on his car.

Rucker released his latest album, Carolyn’s boy, in October. It’s his first solo album in six years and is full of “very personal songs,” he told PEOPLE. He was named after a person near and dear to him: his mother Carolyn, who died in 1992.
“She’s been gone for so long, but I still think about her every day,” Rucker said. “She was my biggest champion… I hope I make her proud.”
In December, the former lead singer of Hootie & the Blowfish received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Rucker was joined by his three children, Carolyn, 28, Daniella, 22, and Jack, 18, whom he mentioned in his speech.
Cary, Dani and Jack are my heart, they are my soul, said the guitarist. – They are everything to me and everything I do is for them.
“It’s been an amazing thing to be your father,” Rucker continued, turning to his children. “As cool as all this is, it’s not as cool as being your dad, and I really mean it. I love you so much.”

The “Wagon Wheel” singer told PEOPLE in June 2023 that he tries to stay in touch with his kids even when they’re on the road.
“When phones and FaceTime came into play, it made it a lot easier,” he said at the time. “[I] just try to call every day.”
“The way we’re touring is great,” the Charleston native continued. “We only go on tour on weekends, so three days a week and the other four days [I’m] almost at home, so it’s a lot easier.”
