Daryl Joseph Mitchell was born on Monday, 20 May 1991, in Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand (age 32; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Taurus.
He studied at Southwell School in Hamilton and later at St Paul’s College School. During his childhood, he lived for two years in Manchester and London. He loved playing cricket and played in his backyard when he was ten years old.
In 2006, he and his family moved to Perth, Australia, when his father was appointed head coach of the Western Force rugby league team in the Super 14 rugby competition. From 2005 to 2008 he studied at Hale School in Perth.
He briefly played domestic cricket in Australia and later began his cricketing career in New Zealand. From 2009 to 2012, he studied for a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Exercise and Exercise Science at Edith Cowan University. In 2015, he began studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise at Auckland University of Technology.

He played school cricket for Hale for three years and later played two years for Scarborough FC, playing alongside Marcus Stoinis and Justin Langer. He has also represented Western Australia Under-19s, Under-23s and the Australian Center of Excellence in third-tier cricket tournaments. While in Australia he trained under Neil ‘Noddy’ Holder.
Domestic – New Zealand
In 2011, he began playing for North End on the New Zealand domestic circuit and played his first Group A (one-day) match against Canterbury on 4 December 2011. He made his first Division One appearance on 18 March 2012 against Auckland and his team. On November 30, 2012, the first T20 match was against Canterbury.
He also played for Waikato Valley during the 2011 season. He played domestic cricket for about 8 years before making his debut for the New Zealand national team. He moved to Canterbury in June 2020 from the Northern Territory.

In the 2013-14 season, he made his first appearance in the New Zealand A-League. In 2020, he represented New Zealand and captained them in the series against India A.
