Goodbye, peanuts and pretzels! A new favorite food joins the sky.
Delta Airlines passengers will soon be able to enjoy a Shake Shack burger as an in-flight meal.
“A delicious cheeseburger is an iconic comfort food — our customers know that, which is why burgers are one of the most ordered menu items we offer, and we’re thrilled to elevate the offering with Shake Shack,” Stephanie Laster, director of Onboard Service, said Tuesday , November 19, press release.

“However, our partnership with Shake Shack goes beyond burgers,” she continued. “Shake Shack’s people-first culture and commitment to enriching their neighborhoods align with our own brand values of service excellence and helping the communities we serve.”

The partnership between the airline and the burger chain is the latest in Delta’s long-standing collaboration with Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG) and Shake Shack founder Danny Meyer, who is also USHG’s founder and executive chairman.
The cheeseburgers will be available as early as December 1st, starting exclusively on flights from Boston, but with plans to expand to “other US markets during 2025.” Unfortunately, the all-American classic will be limited to passengers in first class and “on routes longer than 900 miles.”

The Shake Shack Cheeseburger — which eligible passengers can pre-select as their appetizer choice up to seven days before departure via the Fly Delta app or a link sent to their email — is made with 100% Angus beef and comes “topped with cheese and served on a toasted potatoes.” Additional toppings, such as tomato, lettuce and Shake Shack’s famous ShackSauce, will be available on the side, as well as chips, Caesar salad and a dark chocolate brownie “reminiscent of Shack Attack flavors from some of the brand’s dessert offerings.”
Other popular Shake Shack menu items — like fries, hot dogs and milkshakes — won’t be offered.

Michael Kark, president of Global Licensing at Shake Shack, said the restaurant chain is “always looking for new and innovative ways to meet our guests where they are, even at 35,000 feet.”
“Elevating our beloved cheeseburger to new heights, Shake Shack is proud to partner with Delta as we elevate the in-flight dining and hospitality experience for travelers across the country,” he added.
