Denise Richards Reveals the Dealbreaker She Gave Special Forces Production — and How 'They Hid It' from the Cast

Denise Richards reveals her one condition before joining Special forces: the toughest test in the world.

The actress, 53, joined co-star Trista Sutter on a recent episode of Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti Almost famous podcast, where they discussed their time on the competition show. When she first agreed to go ahead, Richards said she insisted on one thing: “a private restroom.”

“I got us a toilet,” Richards said, as Sutter explained that all the women on the show tend to share “porta-knees.”

“It’s not three hundred potties, it’s outbuildings!” Richards clarified, saying the toilets “didn’t flush or anything.”

“So that’s something I mentioned when I was asked to do the show,” Richards continued. “I said, ‘There’s no fucking way, or I’m not going to go to the bathroom all the time. I’m not going to sit next to someone on TV and go to the potty.’”

“So it took them a couple of weeks to get back to us because it was my violator,” Richards continued. “And I’m sure he will.” [be mad] I say that because next season someone will say, ‘Well, Denise Richards has a toilet!’ But they got a toilet and hid it. But I said, ‘I’m not going to have a target on my back because it’s just my toilet bowl, so I don’t want anyone to know.'”

Richards previously told PEOPLE there’s another reason she suspects it’s happening Special forces were her daughters feelings about it. At first she said they were afraid it was too dangerous.

“My daughters were very upset,” Richards admitted in November. “They didn’t want me to do it. They were afraid I would get hurt or killed, but they were actually very angry. It was the first time in all the times I’ve been doing different projects or traveling that they’ve been really mad at me.”

She added: “I thought, ‘This is the most challenging thing I’ll ever do, so why not do it?’ I was terrified, but once I committed to doing it, I was there.”

Fans saw Richards exit the series on the Jan. 8 premiere after her breast implants ruptured during the challenge. Although she wanted to stay, she said Entertainment Weekly that she has had other health complications and is still healing from the repair of four previous hernias.

“I wanted to see the doctor and I wanted to make sure I was okay to continue with the weight and doing things,” she told EWnoting that the participants carried heavy packs of supplies at all times. “I wanted to make sure I didn’t damage the hernias. I knew implants and it was something I knew I could still continue [with]. I was too ashamed to even say anything about them. But I wanted to see for myself that place where I had surgery before for my hernia.”

Still, she was glad to hold out as long as she could.

“I’m actually really proud of myself,” Richards said. “I had the courage to jump off the bridge… I was so happy. Even though I couldn’t get on that helicopter, I was very happy. I could at least grab hold and hang from it. Never in a million years did I think I could do that.”
