Deryck Whibley Claps Back at Former Sum 41 Manager's Denial of Sexual Abuse Claims: 'I'm Not a Liar'

Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley is standing by his claims that his band’s former manager, Greig Nori, “groomed” and “sexually abused” him as a teenager.

A week after Whibley published his new memoir A Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven and Hell claiming that Nori abused him – which Nori denied – the 44-year-old singer insisted he was telling the truth.

“It’s been an extremely difficult week for me,” Whibley said in a video posted on X. “I noticed Greig Nori called me a liar now. I’ll tell you right now, I stand by every word that’s in my book, 100%.”

Whibley then said, “I’m not a liar and I’ll talk to you straight, Greig Nori. If you think I’m a liar, there’s only one way to settle this: under oath. In front of a judge, in front of a jury, whenever you want, I’m ready when whoever you are.”

Whibley claims that Nori kissed him “passionately” in the bathroom at a party and tried to force him to have sex, stating that most rock stars are “queer” and that “most people are bisexual; they’re just too afraid to admit it.”

“He was so relentless and persuasive that after a while I began to believe he might be right,” Whibley wrote. After a few months, Whibley tried to end their physical relationship, and Nori reportedly got angry and called the singer “homophobic.”

In a statement shared with Toronto StarNori stopped the accusations. “The allegation that I initiated the relationship is false,” Nori wrote in a statement. “I didn’t initiate it. Whibley initiated it, aggressively.”

Nori did not directly address Whibley’s allegations of grooming or abuse in his statement.

Whibley ended the video addressing Nori’s claims by thanking his friends, family and fans who came out to support him. “We’ll get through this like we get through everything else,” he said.
