Profession
She began her career in 1998 when she joined her father’s company, Zenith Technologies. She was only 21 years old at the time and began training at her father’s company. After witnessing the office atmosphere and meeting her father, she thought, “This is who I want to be. I want to run a company like him.” During this time, she frequently met with business leaders in California’s Silicon Valley. Soon after, she opened a lab in California to develop high-end products for Indian customers. Eventually, she founded Vu Televisions in 2006, which is currently the fourth largest TV sales brand in India.
She also made the transition from traditional to modern business methods by signing an exclusive agreement with Flipkart in 2014. This agreement made VU the largest TV brand on all e-commerce platforms.
In 2015, she shifted her focus to VOD technology, aiming to improve the quality of audio and video streaming. Apparently, VU is one of the best-selling 4K TV brands in India.
Business Structure
She believes that more women should become CEOs. This will be a great thing for the Indian economy. She also plans to cater primarily to the educated and upwardly mobile Indian consumers. Apart from this, she does not believe in exploring new markets once in a while, instead, talking about the mantra of repeat purchases, she says, “Around 86% of customers who buy a Vu TV buy another TV from us. We try to retain our customers rather than looking for new markets all the time.” Moreover, she believes that the pricing of their TVs should be between multinational brands like Samsung and Indian brands like Videocon, which helps in maintaining brand value and cost effectiveness.
