Diddy Accused of 1991 Sexual Assault of College Student in New Lawsuit

Sean “Diddy” Combs is accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit filed Thursday in Manhattan Supreme Court. The allegations come just days after Diddy settled another lawsuit accusing him of rape and sexual assault.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, a woman named Joi Dickerson-Neal accuses Diddy, 54, of drugging and raping her while she was a student at Syracuse University in 1991. Dickerson-Neal’s attorneys claim she was the victim of “revenge pornography” after that the music mogul allegedly filmed the incident and shared the footage with others in the music industry.

Diddy denies the allegations, claiming that Dickerson-Neal made up the story.

“This last-minute lawsuit is an example of how a well-intentioned law can be turned upside down. The 32-year-old Mrs. Dickerson’s story is fabricated and not credible. Mr. Combs never attacked her and she implicates companies that didn’t exist. This is a pure money grab and nothing more,” the rapper’s spokesperson wrote in a statement to PEOPLE.

According to the complaint, Dickerson-Neal knew Diddy through mutual friends and appearing alongside him in a music video. Dickerson-Neal’s attorney, Jonathan Goldhirsh, said in a press release sent to PEOPLE that the victim had already heard about Diddy’s alleged “abuse of women” by the time she met him, and was wary of him.

When they went on a date, which Dickerson-Neal claims she “reluctantly” agreed to, she says she was drugged after leaving a drink at the table with Diddy and soon “couldn’t stand or walk on her own.”

“A few days later, the friend revealed to her that he had watched the ‘sex tape’ with other men,” the documents state. “Horrified, Mrs Dickerson asked how many others had seen it, to which he replied ‘everyone’.”

Dickerson-Neal claims the assault caused her mental health to deteriorate, causing her to drop out of college and never get a degree.

“We are honored to assist our client, Ms. Dickerson-Neal, as she courageously steps forward in her efforts to hold Mr. Combs accountable,” said her attorney, Michelle Caiola, a partner at Phillips & Associates, PLLC. Caiola added: “Everyone deserves to be heard and Combs should not be immune from accountability because of his wealth and public status.”

In addition to Combs, Bad Boy Entertainment, Bad Boy Records and Combs Enterprises are also named as defendants in the lawsuit.

The filing comes just one day before New York’s Adult Survivors Act expires on Friday. This law allowed adult survivors of sexual assault to file a lawsuit one year after the statute of limitations had expired.

“Our client has not been able to escape the ongoing impact of the harm Combs caused her years ago. Through the Adult Survivors Act, she can turn to the courts to finally seek justice,” Goldhirsch said.

Her attorney, Douglas Wigdor, said: “I am very proud of Ms. Ventura for having the strength to go public with her lawsuit. She should be commended for doing that.”

Combs added: “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”
