Nashville police have released new body camera footage showing an officer talking to Riley Strain shortly before the now-missing student was last seen.
Metro Nashville Police Department shared recordings on Monday of Strain’s “brief exchange” with Officer Reginald Young on Gay Street on March 8, the night the 22-year-old disappeared.
Strain “didn’t seem upset” when he encountered the officer, who was nearby on a “vehicle burglary call,” according to police.
In the video, shared on X, Strain can be seen walking down the sidewalk and seemingly striking up a conversation with the officer.

Young then asked the University of Missouri student, “How are you, sir?” to which Strain replied, “I’m fine, how are you?” before he leaves.
Officer Young “remained on that stretch” of Gay Street for about 45 minutes, according to MNPD.
Police did not reveal what time the video was taken, but repeatedly that “no video has been discovered showing Riley walking away from Gay St after the 21:52 time frame.”
Strain’s parents “met with part of the detective team” on Sunday “and were given a full briefing on the work being done” to find their missing child, in addition to being shown relevant video footage, according to MNPD.

“No evidence of foul play has been discovered while efforts to locate Riley Strain continue,” the police department said.
Previously obtained surveillance footage from March 8 showed the student staggering down the road after being asked to leave Luke Bryan’s 32 Bridge Food + Drink restaurant and bar.

The Tennessee Liquor Commission is investigating whether Strain was drinking excessively before he disappeared. In a statement shared with PEOPLE on Friday afternoon, TC Restaurant Group, which oversees Bryan’s establishment, said it provided the information to assist authorities.
“During Riley’s visit to 32 Luke’s Bridge, our records indicate that he purchased and was served one alcoholic beverage and two waters,” the statement said. “At 9:35 p.m. our security team made the decision based on our standards of conduct to escort him from the scene through our Broadway exit in front of our building. He was followed down the stairs with a member of his party. The individual with Riley did not exit and returned upstairs.”

A statement from TC Restaurant Group concluded: “Our prayers continue to be with Riley’s friends and family during this difficult time and for his safe return.”
Over the weekend, police announced that Strain’s bank card was found on an embankment along the Cumberland River on Sunday. However, they said no conclusive evidence was found in the water.
The search for Strain and the investigation into his disappearance are ongoing.
